Its' that time of year again, and Illest is only two days away. Submissions were today for our annual "Illest of Ill" show. The show has become bigger than we ever expected with an amazing turnout of 277 pieces!

Only a portion of the total work submited

The submissions around lunchtime today

Our guest judge "El Coro" didn't arrive in town until 10:45pm. We literally took him straight from the airport to the Exhibition Hall to start jurying the work. He is an incredibly friendly and informed guy.

We had him judge until midnight and we are still hanging the show (it's what now 4:30?)... We've got demos and presentations and all sorts of set up planned for the next 48 hours. I wont show you the photos of the set up so far, but Coro is doing an oil demo tomorrow and I'll post some photos from that then. Stay chill guys!

Eggs

Hard Boiled

I wanted to try my hand at some comic cover work. This is my take on "Hard Boiled" by Frank Miller and Geof Darrow. "Illest" is in less than a week, so after the show I'll be sure to post some photos of the evening. El Coro shows up Tuesday night to judge on Wednesday, It's gonna be a hectic few days starting mid-week. Damn I'm excited. Take it easy guys.

2 weeks and counting

So the show is two weeks away yesterday, and the pieces are starting to fall into place. I haven't had much time to sketch because of the show. Most of my time is going into refining some nice finishes for submission. Until those are done, heres what little sketching I have gotten done.

September 5th

OK so I lied,

After about a week or so of feedback from you guys and the rest of the three horsemen I am going to make some major changes to "Batman" before ultimate judgement is passed on it. The updated one will be posted later, but for now here's some sketchbook stuff I had some fun with today.
