Nearly the Holidays

12-18-09

Hey Folks! Thanks for stopping by.

I've been knee deep in exciting stuff the past few weeks. Director/Writer James Gunn (Slither, PG Porn <----brilliant) is in town shooting his next gritty tale of humanity.

I, myself am not a 'twooter', but the cast and crew have a group twitter that you can follow. (if you are so inclined)

working on set has been a new experience, and I finally learned wh
at the rest of the Moonbot movie vets meant when they said "hurry up, and wait". A new and exciting experience to say the least. Plus now I can say I met a couple movie stars. I'm sure that will come in handy at a cocktail party sometime in the future.

Otherwise "The Fantastic Flying Books of Morris Lessmore" is moving along well, and as we put together a packet for Moonbot's development slate the excitement mounts!

On a personal level, I spent the past wee
kend watching the appendices on the "Lord of the Rings" DVDs. I had forgotten how much I love those!!....(and did some drawing)

"Some Golems"

"The lost castle of the Mt. Memory"

also, here is the process of a painting I am working on...

If you don't hear from me again here, Happy Holidays!

Hey Folks,

"..just promise me you wont turn into a business man"

I've had this desire recently to add more cartooning or 'caricature' to my work. It's most likely a residual effect of being around Mr. J Bluhmers, but whichever the source well my belly is stirring. When I say cartooning I don't mean like Kirby, or Eisner, or Avery, or even theme park style. Caricature as an interpretation, I'm fairly certain it's a feeling every artist has had.

Do I draw realistically or do I draw the way thats comfortable? Or inbetween?

Maybe I'm misusing the word caricature, but I'm going strive to do more interpreting with my drawings than representing. With a hope of achieving a balance between believably fabricated, and imagined abstraction.

I know my verbage is only grasping at cohesivity, but since it's still fresh in my mind...I'm thinking as I am writing.

hmmmm...

Thanks for stopping by everyone!
